Fee Structure

Initial 20-Minute Consultation (in person, by Zoom, or phone): FREE. This consultation gives you an opportunity to meet with your counsellor, discuss your goals, and see if we are a good fit for working together.

Leia (Lauren Shay):

  • 50-Minute Individual Counselling Session: $180 Ideal for one-on-one therapy sessions focusing on trauma recovery, relationship concerns, or personal growth.
  • 80-Minute Couples Counselling Session: $270 Longer sessions provide more time for both members of the couple to be heard.

Darci Layke:

  • Individual session: $60
  • Couples session: $115

Payment Methods

We accept the following forms of payment:

  • VISA and Mastercard
  • E-Transfer
  • Cheques
  • Cash (please bring exact change)
  • Insurance and Extended Health Coverage
  • Many extended health insurance plans cover counselling services provided by Registered Social Workers (RSW) or Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC). Because I hold both designations, there is a good chance that your plan will cover some or all of your sessions. Please check with your HR department or extended health carrier to confirm your coverage.


Important: Payment is due at the time of your session. You will receive an official receipt, which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) Coverage
Leia Shay Counselling is an approved provider for the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA). FNHA clients can access free counselling services under the following programs: Mental Wellness and Counselling Program Indian Residential School Resolution Health Support Program (IRS-RHSP) Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls (MMIWG) Program To confirm your eligibility, please call the FNHA Health Benefits line at 1-855-550-5454 or visit fnha.ca/benefits. Please Note: FNHA does not cover missed appointments or late cancellations. Clients are responsible for fees related to missed sessions.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that sometimes plans change. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we require 24 hours notice. If less than 24 hours notice is given or the session is missed, the session fee will be charged.
